Therapy for Therapists

Many therapists are also mothers, and many therapists are also women in their midlife, and perimenopausal years. Many therapists are also 'lifetime carers' for everyone in their life. I therefore have expert skills to apply to you, if you are a therapist and wish to explore your own emotional well-being.

Therapists are human too, and like all humans, we need to receive just as much care as we provide - In fact, having our emotionally needs met makes us better therapists and mothers and carers, although we don't often acknowledge or talk about that too much ...

If you are struggling with any challenges with balancing all of your caring responsibilities with getting your own needs met, please do not hesitate to contact me, by clicking the 'Contact me' button below, to find out how I can help you.

I offer expert emotional & mental health support for therapists who want to:

  • Explore their own emotions and emotional needs

  • Unpack their own childhood traumas and explore how this impacts on their work &/or mothering

  • Have a place to safely express & process their own difficult emotions - to be held emotionally themselves, for often the first time in their life.

  • Begin to set firmer, compassionate boundaries with clients/others so that they can do more sustainable work.

  • Avoid burnout in their profession and/or caring responsibilities at home.

  • Rethink their caring responsibilities in light of their perimenopausal journey & shifting priorities and values.

  • Learn how best to implement self-care into their life while not compromising on the care their offer to their clients/family.

Support I cannot offer: â€‹

I cannot offer support to anyone in crisis (mental health or otherwise). You are, of course, likely to be struggling emotionally , but you also will need to have currently a safe & stable housing situation, and a safe & stable support network of friends and/or family, to work with me.

I do not offer therapy to people who are currently experiencing any risk of self-harm, or abuse, or violence from others (verbally or physically) - Currently living in safety & relative stability is a prerequisite for undergoing therapy with me.

I am also not able to work with families who are currently receiving support from social services, under either a Child in Need or Child Protection Plan. And I cannot adequately offer the proper support to anyone with a diagnosis of psychosis, personality disorders, eating disorders, or substance misuse as I have very limited experience in these areas. I also do not offer any psychological reports for legal proceedings, e.g. in the case of divorce.

If you are struggling in ways that I cannot support you with, please know that I wholeheartedly wish for you to receive the support you absolutely deserve and need, and I am sincerely sorry that I cannot provide it myself. Please speak to your GP for support & signposting in the first instance, or go to A&E if you are in crisis. You can also phone the National Domestic Abuse Hotline (freephone), if this is relevant to you, on 0808 2000 247.
