As of September 2024, I will be writing more regularly over on Substack.
I do intend to still write here too.
Here, on my website blog, I'll be publishing articles that aim to define, demystify & explain various psychological concepts, so these posts will be more educational in nature.
On Substack, I'll be integrating my psychological expertise with my personal stories of how I personally have come to understand what makes me tick as a human, and what makes my kids tick, as well as how I navigate through my own experience of the stresses and trauma-triggers of parenthood, perimenopause and life with as much self-compassion and self-care as possible.
Please do join me, and my community of subscribers & followers, there:

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Substack, it is simply a website platform for writers to publish their own work. As a reader, you can choose who to 'subscribe' to, or who to just 'follow'.
As a subscriber, you get email notifications when anything new is published, so if you choose this option you will never miss a post from me. My email newsletters from Substack will also always highlight when I've published something new here too, on my blog, and I will always provide a link for you to my blog, so that you can easily click through to read the full piece.
What is Substack?
Substack is a form of 'social media' but it's very different from Instagram and Facebook - It encourages longer-form writing, rather than quick-fire memes, and snappy captions, so there is far more room for nuance and complexity on Substack - that's why I'm loving it, as both a writer and a reader! And the community on Substack is so friendly and supportive, far less 'shouty' and divisive than a lot of social media feels right now.
Here's an excerpt from my 'About me' page on Substack, so you know what you'll be getting fro me over there:
"I believe in the power of hearing the honest stories of others, to inspire people, help them feel less alone, and make positive change in this world. So you won’t get psychology lectures here - Instead, you’ll read some of my personal stories, told as honestly as I can tell them, interwoven with my professional knowledge.
I write about various intersecting topics, which all feel important to me in my life right now, such as: Parenting, child emotional health & development, motherhood, the mental load, self-care, menstrual cycle awareness, perimenopause and the relative benefits of un/home/schooling.
Both professionally & personally, I am intimate with the emotions of anxiety, stress, burnout, trauma, grief, guilt, shame, anger, and rage - I will share some of my own stories of struggles here, as well as how I have navigated through them, with as much compassion, resilience & growth as I could muster, based on all that I have learned as a psychologist & a human."
To get you started:
Here are the links to my first three Substack posts, all available to read for free, without subscribing:
"Why I'm saying 'no' to the so-called 'need for a niche':
"You can't stop me, I'm a modern day mum":
"When menopause is hard, who can we trust to help us? My reflections on the BBC Panorama program "The Menopause Industry Uncovered":
Looking forward to seeing you over there, on Substack!
